Zimbabwe’s government has introduced a licensing requirement for Whatsapp group administrators to curb misinformation and enhance accountability on social media platforms. The licensing fee ranges from $50 to $2,500, depending on the type of Whatsapp group. Administrators must provide personal information to obtain a license from the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ).
