Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the now-defunct Silk Road online marketplace, is set to share his story in a new documentary. This marks the very first time he has had a direct role in narrating his experience. Known for creating what was dubbed “the Amazon for Drugs,” the Silk Road facilitated hundreds of millions in illegal sales, leading to a dramatic FBI manhunt and his 2013 arrest at a San Francisco library. Ulbricht was later sentenced to two life terms plus 40 years for his role in the site’s operation. From Prison to Pardon In an unexpected turn, Ulbricht was pardoned by US President Donald Trump and released from federal prison on January 21st. The documentary included an exclusive interview with Julia Vie, Ulbricht’s former girlfriend. Vie painted a contrasting image of Ulbricht, asserting that he was not motivated by wealth and reportedly did not even own a car while denying that he was a drug pusher.
