Under the new framework, the current tax rate on crypto gains, which can be as high as 55%, could be reduced to 20%, bringing it into line with the taxation of equity investments. Timeline for Reform The formal policy announcement is expected to be made in June 2025, with legislative changes expected to be made during the 2026 regular session of the National Diet.
