President Donald Trump has granted pardons to Arthur Hayes, Benjamin Delo, and Samuel Reed, the three co-founders of the BitMEX cryptocurrency exchange, according to reports from CNBC and other sources. The pardons were issued on Thursday, March 28, 2025. The trio had previously pleaded guilty in 2022 to various federal criminal charges related to money laundering and failure to implement adequate anti-money laundering and know-your-customer programs at BitMEX. Reed also admitted to violating the Bank Secrecy Act and agreed to pay a $10 million fine. Hayes was sentenced to six months of home confinement followed by two years of probation, Delo received 30 months of probation, and Reed was sentenced to 18 months of probation.
