Japanese investment firm Metaplanet boosted its Bitcoin holdings to 5,000 BTC with a new 1.9 billion yen purchase. Tokyo-based Metaplanet Inc. has acquired an additional 145 Bitcoin ( BTC ), bringing its total holdings to 5,000 BTC as part of the firm’s ongoing Bitcoin Treasury Operations, according to a Thursday regulatory filing . The firm disclosed that it bought the 145 BTC for a total of ¥1.9 billion (around $13.4 million). The Tokyo-based firm also announced the full exercise of its 14th Series Stock Acquisition Rights and a partial early redemption of its 11th Series Bonds. As crypto.news reported earlier, Metaplanet acquired 696 BTC in the first quarter through its Bitcoin Income Generation business, a program focused on selling cash-secured Bitcoin put options. Metaplanet bought the Bitcoin shortly after raising ¥2 billion through its 10th Series of Ordinary Bonds, which was fully allocated to EVO FUND for more Bitcoin purchases. Since it began accumulating Bitcoin, its stock has surged over 3,000%. In total, the firm aims to hold 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026.
