CoinShares has joined other asset management firms to file for a Solana ETF. It officially joined the race on June 14 by registering its interest in an S-1 form with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Notably, CoinShares is now the eighth applicant for a Solana ETF in the United States. Where is the BlackRock Solana ETF Filing? CoinShares is joining Fidelity, Grayscale, VanEck, and Franklin Templeton, which had submitted the same filing earlier. Senior Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas shared the update on X, stating that ” Coinshares is jumping into the Solana spot ETF race with a new filing this morning. I think we are up to 8 now. He also noted that some people have asked him when BlackRock will file its SOL ETF filing. He answered these questions, “I don’t know, no intel. My Spidey sense is not helpful either, as I could see them filing, but I could also see them not filing.” Grayscale and Fidelity Files SOL ETF It is worth noting that for every Solana ETF filing made to the SEC, the applicants indicated their interest in including staking when they eventually launch. This suggests that staking is becoming a standard feature for these proposed funds. Grayscale Investments submitted a proposal to the US Securities and Exchange Commission to launch a SOL ETF in March. Fidelity filed its application in the same month, further demonstrating the increased interest in Solana. Such an ETF would allow investors to access Solana without directly buying or managing cryptocurrency. Generally, there is a push to engage with digital assets other than Bitcoin (BTC). Canary Capital Partners With Marinade Finance on ETF Staking Canary Capital took a bolder step towards its SOL ETF by bagging a new partnership with Marinade Finance , a popular SOL staking platform. This partnership led to the fund’s renaming, now called the Canary Marinade Solana ETF. This deal allows the ETF to include SOL staking, like the SOL ETF application from other asset managers. However, all these applicants wait for the security regulator to decide on their filings. On the other hand, the SEC has postponed its decision, claiming to wait for public comments.
